CALVIN KLEIN / a styled shoot
Welcome to week 1 of my photography challenge.
As part of my personal development capstone project, I’ve committed to 8 weeks of actually using my big, expensive camera in my personal life and for non-paid shoots. The first of which is a styled shoot hosted by one of my very best photog friends, Images by Amber.
I’m doing this challenge for 2 main reasons:
I own an amazing camera, which I love very much and honestly love to use, but I literally never pull it out in my personal life. I only use it for work. And that’s great because I’m making money with it, but also like… so lame? An artist who never does art besides to make money. Boring. What’s the point?
I’m in a rut with my editing lately, and it’s a little hard to experiment with that when I’m getting paid. Like, experimenting on somebody’s wedding gallery is probably not a great choice. I’m hoping that by doing fun/unpaid shoots, I’ll have the freedom to edit more creatively, and I’ll settle on some tweaks I’m happy with.
Moving on to the shoot: The vision for this shoot was all-denim, Calvin Klein vibes. Think Kate Moss and Mark Wahlberg circa ‘92. I’m very excited about the way these photos turned out, and I’m really digging the editing!! Y’all will probably look at it and think it looks the exact same as most of my other photos, but I see the difference lol. I also did some more filmy edits on some, and I’m loving those as well. Here are my favorites. Enjoy!
